The Paving the Way Capital Campaign kicked-off with a brief congregational meeting on Sunday, January 26th to raise funds for the reconstruction of the church parking lot, including bringing the handicap-accessible spaces up to the new ADA standards. The condition of the lot has deteriorated greatly. There are a number of potholes and areas that no longer have blacktop. Recently the church was denied a permit by the Village of Glen Ellyn to re-stripe the lot, because changes like that are allowed only if we bring the accessible spaces up to current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
It is estimated that the cost will be $180,000 to $200,000. This is a large cost, but a necessary one. To ensure we meet the needs of everyone in our community and remain a welcoming home we need your support to complete this project. Safety and accessibility are urgent priorities. With your support, our home can be as welcoming as our church family is.
Please, consider supporting the Paving the Way campaign. You can have a direct impact on our Southminster community by giving a gift towards this initiative. Project and financing updates will be posted in the narthex and in the weekly enotes.
As of 2/03/2025, the parking lot committed funding (pledges and cash) is $93,000. Thank you to those who have given generously!
