Tom has led Southminster’s music ministry since 2015. In addition to directing our choir and working with those who offer their gifts of special music throughout the year, Tom provides piano and organ accompaniment for our worship services and seeks to create a prayerful environment of joy and comfort for all who share in our time together as a church family.
He is the owner and creative director of Random Notes, an arranging studio specializing in a cappella music. His clients include Grammy winners The Swingle Singers, “The Sing-Off” champions Committed, YouTube artist Peter Hollens, cruise lines, theme parks, and non-a-cappella artists as diverse as Brian Wilson (ask your parents) and Vampire Weekend (ask your kids). Prior to joining Southminster, he served various congregations in Minnesota and Illinois as music director, choir director, contemporary worship leader, dispenser of dry bons mots, and principal pianist.
Tom is a financial regulator and recovering attorney. He holds an MBA and an MS in analytics from Indiana University, a law degree from the University of Minnesota, and a music composition degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is happily [note: confirm this with Blair] married to our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Blair Baldwin.
